Department of Electronics & IT supports the effort to create a high value interactive platform for the Indian electronics industry
EFY Expo 2016 will provide the right interactive platform for promotion of innovation and investment in the Indian electronics industry
Department of Electronics &It (DeitY) has extended its support to Electronics For You Expo (EFY Expo) 2016 in recognisation of the fact that this show provides a right platform for showcasing the Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in India. EFY Expo is one of the premier expo for the Electronics Industry. EFY (Electronics For You), the knowledge sharing and marketing partner of electronics industry since 1969, and ELCINA, the Apex trade organisation of the Indian electronics industry have been organizing the Expo since 2011. ELCINA supports the event as its “Knowledge and Exhibition Partner”. EFY Expo 2016 is going to be held on 11-13 January, 2016 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore under India Electronics Week with five other co-located shows including LED Asia.in, IoT show.in, Test & Measurement India, Electronics Rocks and Raksha India.
While continuing to add value through Conferences, Buyer Seller Meet and Government to Business interaction, EFY Expo 2016 will enhance focus on ‘ innovation’ and investment promotion. National programs i.e. Make in India and Digital India would be promoted during the expo to encourage domestic manufacturing and value addition.
Dr. Ajay Kumar, Additional Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology appreciated the endeavour and said “EFY Expo India is in sync with our objective of taking the Indian electronics industry forward. We have been supporting the Expo for the past four years as it provides an ideal platform to accelerate the growth of the electronics industry. This platform has helped in creating awareness in the electronics industry about the goals and targets of the various government initiatives. I wish the event all the best this year and I am hopeful that it will be able to further contribute to the growth of the industry.”
The show caters to manufacturers, developers and technology leaders interested in the domestic as well as global markets by displaying their products & services. EFY Expo acts as a catalyst for accelerated growth and value addition, acquisition of technology and joint ventures between Indian and global players to enable growth of Electronic Manufacturing in the country. Mr. Vikram Desai, President, ELCINA and Managing Director, Desai Electronics highlighted “The Expo features participation by manufacturers and distributors of electronic components, raw materials, assemblies, and capital equipment and EMS providers. This will brings together, the Business and Technology aspects of electronics on one platform for the benefit of all participants for the entire ESDM value chain.”
While discussing about the entire effort Mr. Rajoo Goel, Secretary General, ELCINA commented “We are committed to developing EFY Expo into a high value interactive platform for Indian and international players from ESDM sector. EFY Expo will also feature ELCINA’s CEO Summit and Buyer-Seller Meet to support creation of a strong domestic value chain. Some special features this year include co-located shows on Test & Measurement, Internet of Things (IoT) and LED providing opportunities in these rapidly growing domains.
Mr. Ramesh Chopra, Executive Chairman, EFY Group opined “Time has come for the Indian electronics industry to exhibit its manufacturing and designing capabilities and potential. The growing import of electronics and IT products is putting pressure on the nation’s forex reserves and Balance of Trade. If we continue on this path, it will create a precarious situation for the country. Acknowledging this, the government is actively promoting indigenous products through its ‘Make in India’ initiative. However, it is easier said than done. To attract investments in setting up plant in India, the government is providing subsidies under M-SIPS while Preferential Market Access Policy (PMA) is generating the demand. However, it is important to bring the ecosystem partners together to facilitate interaction to derive the desired results. Realising that, we have been organizing the EFY Expo for the last five years and in 2016 also the expo will bring the entire ESDM fraternity together.”
