ELCINA-IMRB Study: India’s 1st Independent Survey of Electronics-related Media

  • by

ELCINA and IMRB-Kantar has conducted India’s first independent survey, on media consumption patterns in the Indian electronics industry, and Electronics For You magazine and www.electronicsforu.com have emerged as clear leaders, among the publications and websites, respectively, in the Indian electronics industry.

New DelhiElectronics For You magazine has emerged as the clear leader amongst all publications accessed by the Indian electronics industry! And, when it comes to websites, www.electronicsforu.com is the topper. These rankings have emerged from a unique survey done by IMRB on behalf of ELCINA—India’s leading electronics industry association. A group of 367 people, comprising professionals, entrepreneurs, academicians, students, hobbyists, influencers and others participated in this research.

Conveying the objective behind this research, ELCINA president, Vikram Desai, said, “In our 50th year, we wanted to take up projects that are important for the Indian electronics industry. One such project was to conduct a research to find out media consumption patterns of various stakeholders within the Indian electronics ecosystem. We realised that this report will help all of us to review and improve our communication strategies, which in turn should enable the industry to grow faster. We have never seen such a report before, and are gratified and pleased at having taken this initiative.”

Ramesh Chopra, founder, EFY Group, shared, “We thank ELCINA for conducting such a unique study. This is a shot in our arm, as it has helped to prove our strong engagement with the Indian electronics industry and fraternity. While we have been around since 1969, in the absence of this third-party survey, we had no means to prove our leadership vis-à-vis any new entrant in the sector. Now, the figures are out in the open, for everyone to benefit.”

Rajoo Goel, secretary general, ELCINA, said, “Everyone was looking for such a report—the government, the academia, the industry, our members and even the team at ELCINA. We all wanted to know the right medium to choose when targeting a particular audience. Thus, we assigned this independent study to IMRB—India’s leading research agency, with whom we have worked on various projects. And we are delighted by the first such study that they have helped us produce.”

TOP 5 FINDINGS OF THE ELCINA-IMRB SURVEY

When surveyed about the top-of-mind recall for websites, electronicsforu.com topped the list with a 61 per cent recall factor, ieee.org with a 34 per cent recall factor, and allaboutcircuit.com with 28 per cent recall.

  1. Facebook and LinkedIn are the most popular social media platforms
